Richard Osman claims ‘people in the industry know’ identity of Richard Gadd’s sex attacker in Netflix’s Baby Reindeer

Richard Osman has claimed that “everyone” in the television industry knows the identity of sex attacker Richard Gadd portrayed in his Netflix series Baby Reindeer.

The wildly popular Netflix show tells Gadd’s real-life story with stalker Martha Scott (played by Jessica Gunning) and how she infiltrated his life after simply offering him a glass of Coke at home.

Along with Martha’s story, Gadd also shared how he was sexually assaulted by someone in the entertainment industry who promised to help him on his comedy shows.

Gadd plays himself in the series through a character named Donny Dunn and soon meets Darrien (Tom Goodman-Hill) who seems to have good intentions.

Things quickly took a sinister turn as he plied Dunn with drugs and alcohol – soon using her for his own purposes.

Much like Martha’s identity, Gadd did his best to keep the identity of her attacker a secret, but Osman recently claimed that the individual’s identity was widely known within the industry.

Speaking on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast with journalist Marina Hyde, Osmon said: “As you say, there is something very, very serious going on between a comedy producer and Richard Gadd.

“Who, as you say, did the show in and was very open to people in the industry about who this person was, so people in the industry knew who this person was.

“Now it comes out and a completely different person is identified, someone who once produced Richard Gadd, but who is definitely not the person in any way.

“But the person they cast for this role looks like that other guy, looks like the guy who was falsely accused. And it’s such a strange and bizarre thing to do because this poor guy received death threats and he had to file a complaint. statement to say it’s not me.

“And it’s not him, certainly not because people in the industry know who it is. And it’s definitely not him.”

Sean Foley was targeted by detectives after claiming he was the attacker

Internet sleuths claimed to have “discovered” that Sean Foley was Gadd’s attacker and began sending him death threats on social media, which Gadd immediately cleared up.

On his Instagram account, he wrote: “People I love, have worked with and admire (including Sean Foley) are being unfairly caught up in the speculation. Please don’t speculate on who the real people might be.

“That’s not the point of our show. Lots of love, Richard x (sic)

Since the show’s release, the “real Martha” has also spoken out about the impact the show has had on her life and claimed she will sue Netflix for damages.

Fiona Harvey – who is considered the inspiration for Jessica Gunning’s character Martha – noted that she was a “highly competent lawyer” and would take action after receiving death threats.

The woman recently revealed that she did not watch the show because it was a “blatant intrusion into my privacy. I don’t want people to know where I live, but I won’t be silenced.”

She also told the Scottish Sun: “I have a complaint against Netflix because this is being presented as part of a true story. I am a very competent lawyer. I should do it myself. I’m doing very well. I have a photographic memory and can memorize huge files. I was the best in my school in everything.

“I am very attractive. It’s not Brad Pitt. There’s a big actress who’s supposed to be me. He came up with this character called Martha, and he put me right in the frame.

“It’s a program for young people in their twenties. People without a life, without a job, whatever. I don’t want to be a celebrity.”
