Tom King (played by James Chase) reached a new level of manipulation during the latest episode of Emmerdale when he told his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) how desperate he was to have a child. She was slightly worried because her period was a few days late, but assumed she wasn’t pregnant because she was taking birth control pills.
However, Tom went to the shops and asked her to take a pregnancy test while she was trying to work on an important project. Belle finally gave in to Tom’s request and the test result came back negative several minutes later.
Belle seemed somewhat relieved as she had already told Tom that she was not focused on expanding their family, however, he was bitterly disappointed by the negative result. The coercive character began telling his wife how much having a baby would mean to him citing the fact that he had not had a suitable family growing up.
Torn over how to react, Belle finally told Tom that she was ready to try for a child. However, things took a strange turn when Tom forced her to throw her packet of pills in the trash and take them out completely.
Will Belle get more pills from the doctor in upcoming scenes or will she end up getting pregnant soon? Emmerdale viewers had plenty to say about the uncomfortable scenes on X, formerly known as Twitter, when the episode aired.
Carole theorized: “Belle should go get a coil or the injection, he’ll check the trash #emmerdale.”

Belle seems to realize how controlling her husband has become, but will she try to divorce him or end up giving birth to his child?
