What to do in Salisbury for St. George’s Day 2024 – .

The legendary patron saint of England, Saint George, will be celebrated in Salisbury Market Square on Sunday, April 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The celebrations, organized by Salisbury City Council, have been designed with family fun in mind and most activities are free.

The day will be held outdoors and will begin at 9:55 a.m. with a short procession of Salisbury City Councilors led by Mace Bearers and featuring the Salisbury Giant.

Visitors can then enjoy workshops, medieval reenactments, street food, live music, Morris dancing, face painting, a free Blue Badge tour and much more throughout the day.

At 10:15 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Mr. Brown’s Pig Puppet Show will tell a magical story that promises to captivate you from start to finish. This should be great fun for young and old.

Cotswold-style Morris dancing will take place at 10.30am, 12.15pm and 2.30pm in the main arena.

At 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., you can watch medieval knights demonstrate their impressive combat skills in the main arena.

A free guided tour of Salisbury, including facts about St. George’s hidden in the city, will take place from midday, starting from the steps of the Guildhall.

Finally, young people will have the chance to dress up and learn how to become perfect knights for St. George’s Day at 1 p.m. in the main arena.
