The popular challenge raised more than £11,500 last year, with 40 walkers tackling the peaks in aid of Herriot Hospice Homecare.

The route extends over 25 miles and takes an estimated time of 12 hours.

On Saturday September 14, participants will meet a qualified guide at the start line in Horton-in-Ribblesdale before climbing Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent.

By signing up to the challenge, each walker will receive a free Herriot tech t-shirt, a fundraising pack full of great tips, regular email newsletters and a medal on completion.

Supporter Jayne Molyneux, who took on the challenge in 2023, said: “Taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge was an incredible experience knowing that with every step I was raising money for such an incredible charity and I helped people in our community when they did. I need it the most.

There is a fundraising target of £200 for participants who complete the challenge, with all funds going to Herriot Hospice Homecare, which supports people living at home in Hambleton and Richmondshire with a terminal illness. In addition to its existing services, this year will see the opening of a new inpatient care unit and emotional wellbeing support centre, with Herriot Hospice@The Lambert in Thirsk being completed before opening its doors to patients.
