Overturned lorry sees A1 closed near Black Cat roundabout

The A1 was closed near the Chat Noir roundabout due to an overturned truck on Monday afternoon (April 29). The northbound roadway was closed for about an hour after the southbound roadway reopened.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the accident at 1:45 p.m. It said: “A1 Great North Road northbound closed, traffic queuing due to overturned lorry from Blunham Lane (Blunham/Tempsford Turn Off, Blunham) to the A421 (Black Cat roundabout, Roxton). Southbound, reopened.”

A Bedfordshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called just before 11.45am this morning (Monday) to reports of an incident involving an overturned lorry on the A1 northbound between Blunham and the roundabout. -point Black Cat. Both lanes were closed while the incident occurred. resolved, and one lane has since been reopened. »

One lane remained closed at 3:45 p.m. There are delays of approximately 20 minutes compared to scheduled traffic.

Bedfordshire Police attend to overturned lorry

Bedfordshire Police were called to the overturned lorry this morning (April 29).

A spokesperson for the force said:

We were called just before 11.45am this morning (Monday) to reports of an incident involving an overturned truck on the A1 northbound between Blunham and the Black Cat roundabout.

Both lanes were closed while the incident was resolved, and one lane has since been reopened.

There are now delays of 30 minutes compared to scheduled traffic.

Normal traffic conditions are expected between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Traffic is queuing on the A1 northbound after a truck overturned near the Chat Noir roundabout.

One lane is closed between Blunham Lane and the A421 at the roundabout.

There are currently delays of 20 minutes compared to expected traffic, according to Traffic England.

One lane of the A1 has been reopened after the road was closed due to an overturned truck.

The last update from Inrix at 2:30 p.m. said:

Queuing traffic and one lane closure due to an overturned truck on the A1 Great North Road northbound from Blunham Lane (Blunham/Tempsford Turn Off, Blunham) to the A421 (Black Roundabout Cat, Roxton).

One lane is now reopened.

There are currently delays of around 10 minutes to expected traffic on the A1 northbound, according to Traffic England.

This follows the closure of the northbound carriageway due to an overturned truck.

Traffic maps show that traffic is currently stopped on the road.

Traffic is queuing on the A1 after a lorry overturned this afternoon (April 29).

The northbound carriageway is closed between Blunham Lane and the A421.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix first reported the closure at 1:45 p.m.
