Shire Sounds Radio in North Northamptonshire is changing its name to Northants 1 from 27 May 2024.

The station says the rebrand signifies a key commitment to local broadcasting and its commitment to delivering top-class local entertainment, community representation and engagement, with a focus on delivering Hit for Northamptonshire.

Northants 1 is also set to continue its training initiative, now known as the Northants 1 Academy.

The name change is in preparation for the move to a terrestrial broadcast platform once local DAB arrives.

Andrew Haslam – Director of Music and Programs told RadioToday: “I am proud to have joined the management of this exciting local project. Local media is more important than ever and so far I have dedicated my career to that fact.
