One of the most watched musical events in the world is broadcast on the big screen.

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be performed live in Sweden and shown in cinemas across the country, including three Kent screens.

Movie fans will be able to watch the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest in cinemas next weekend

The Light Cinema in Sittingbourne, Cineworld in Ashford and the Showcase in Bluewater, near Dartford, will all show the grand final of the international singing competition on Saturday 11 May.

The show, which starts at 8 p.m., is broadcast in the UK by BBC One with commentary from Graham Norton.

The comedian and chat show host took over in 2008 from Terry Wogan, who had been the voice of Eurovision for more than 30 years.

Meanwhile, radio DJs Scott Mills and Rylan will oversee coverage on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds when the artists take to the stage.

The duo will also commentate on BBC One and BBC iPlayer for the semi-final broadcasts on Tuesday May 7 and Thursday May 9, while broadcaster Richie Anderson will lead commentary for the first time on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

BBC Director of Entertainment, Kate Phillips, said: “Following an exciting competition in last year, organized on behalf of Ukraine, the BBC proudly continues to be the UK’s home of Eurovision. United.

Chart-topping singer and actor Olly Alexander will represent the UK this year.

The competition changes location every year. Next May it will take place in Malmö, Sweden, after singer Loreen won last year’s competition.

Olly Alexander, best known as frontman of pop group Years and Years and for his BAFTA-winning role in It’s A Sin, will represent the UK with his song Dizzy.

However, according to news site Eurovision World, Swiss rapper and violinist Nemo is the favorite to win this year with the single The Code.

Previous champions include Abba, Celine Dion and Lulu, who won the competition for the United Kingdom in 1969.

Although they did not claim first place, notable artists such as Michael Ball, Julio Iglesias, Bonnie Tyler, Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John and Sam Ryder have all entered the competition over the years.

During Eurovision cinema screenings, organized by CinemaLive, spectators are invited to come in disguise and sing the songs.
